Plus Codes are based on latitude and longitude. They use a simple grid system and a set of 20 alphanumeric characters. The character list purposely excludes easy to confuse characters like “1” or “l.”

In the search bar, enter a destination or tap it on the map. Follow the on-screen instructions to help Maps find your location. Tip: Point your phone camera at buildings and signs across the street, instead of trees and people. Once Maps knows where you are, you'll get directions through the camera view on your screen.

The name of a place. For example, the name of the place where a Professor or Research Scholar exchange visitor will be participating in his/her program activity outside the United States.

Plus Codes are easy to generate with the Google Maps app on your phone. To find the Plus Code of your current location on your Android device, turn on location services, then press and hold the screen at the blue dot indicating your location. A blue screen will then open showing the Plus Code for your current location.
